Theatre group Thealight has a great start with its latest production, Bhoy. Written by Bratya Basu, the play is directed by Atanu Sarkar and it has Ashok Majumder as its lead. Besides, other member of the group, Sampa Das Sarkar, Rajeshwari Nandi, Sandipan Chatterjee, Pulak Roy, Debraj Ganguly, Sukumar Das and Shanku Das, are also seen in the play. After a successful fifth show, the play is prepping up for a sixth show in Academy of Fine Arts.

“This is a 19-year-old group and this year, we premiered our play on January 31. Prithwish Rana has designed the stage, while Sudip Sanyal designed the lights,” said the director.
The play revolves around a service-holder couple, Subhankar and Sima. They go for a holiday in a forest and get to know that there are paranormal activities in the bungalow. But Malay babu, the manager of bungalow, assures them that there is no ghost. But they are not convinced and they enter their room facing extreme mental pressure. Soon, after they fall asleep, they encounter strange dreams and the story goes continues.
Talking about the play, Atanu said, “Bhoy is a political play that talks about the time in 2007 and 2008. This was the time when Bengal was going through a political transition. In 2012, I first read the play in a magazine. By then, there was a new government. At the time of first reading, I was overwhelmed by a strange connection. I could relive my student life through the happenings in the play.”A
