Now, Jaipur turns into a shooting set for a Hollywood film on Rani Laxmibai

Jaipur is once again witnessing the shoot of a period drama based on the life of Rani Laxmibai. But this time, it's not the Kangana Ranaut starrer film, but a British-Indian co-production, Swords and Sceptres, that's being shot in Jaipur.
The historical drama starring British actors Rupert Everett, Derek Jacobi, Nathaniel Parker, Ben Lamb, Jodhi May , among others, and Indian actors like Nagesh Bhonsle, Yatin Karyekar, Milind Gunaji, and Arif Zakaria is currently being shot at the City Palace, the official residence of Jaipur's erstwhile royal family . Devika Bhise, an American actor of Indian origin, of The Man Who Knew Infinity fame, will be playing Laxmibai in the film.
The crew reached the city on November 7 after shooting at Jodhpur's Mehrangarh Fort and Balsamand Palace, where they have been shooting since October 14. Informs a source from the set, “Some important scenes like Rani Laxmibai riding a horse with her son Damodar Rao are being shot at the City Palace. We will also be shooting at Jaigarh and at another heritage hotel near the city . Then we will head to the UK and Morocco where we will shoot for the war sequences. These are the same places were several scenes of The Game of Thrones were shot.“ Directed by Swati Bhise, the film has been co-written by her daughter and the lead star of the film, Devika.

WHEN THIS ROMANIAN STUNTMAN LANDED A ROLE IN THE FILM
Romanian stuntman Mihai Illescu, who has worked in films like Dunkirk, War Dogs and Ghost Rider, will be seen playing a Maratha warrior, Lala Bhau Bakshi, in the film. Illescu, who has also be seen in Hindi films like Singh is Bling, Raaz Reboot, and has also shot with Salman Khan recently for Tiger Zinda Hai, shares with us, “I was roped in to teach sword fighting to Devika,who plays Rani Laxmibai. After I was done with the training in Morocco, where the first leg of the shoot took place, the director asked me to act in the film too. It was like killing two birds with one stone. Now I am finding it quite interesting wearing traditional attire of a Maratha warrior.“
