Oscar-winning actor
Joaquin Phoenix is all set to woo the audience over with his portrayal of DC Comic’s most iconic villain The Joker. The film that is the first stand-alone flick for the villainous character, will reportedly delve into the grim and dark back story of the character Arthur Fleck and his transformation into the menacing Joker.
The makers chose an interesting way to announce the release date of the official trailer by posing a series of videos with cryptic messages on it. The team later posted a picture of all the videos combined and an encrypted message that read, “Trailer 8.28.”
According to reports, the film will not be exactly what fans have come to expect from a comic book, but rather something that will deliver a fresh take on the origin of the character. Joaquin will take on the lead role of the troubled clown-for-hire and aspiring stand-up comedian living amidst a chaotic and crime-ridden Gotham City. Although unclear if there will indeed be a scene between the Joker and his arch-rival The
Batman
, this one is reportedly in the running for Oscar glory.
Directed by
Todd Phillips it will feature Zazie Beetz,
Robert De Niro and
Bryan Callen as lead characters. Other popular actors who were roped in for Joker are Shea Whigham, Frances Conroy, Glenn Fleshler, Brett Cullen and Marc Maron.
The film is scheduled for a release on October 4th, 2019.
