After a long break in production owing to the
coronavirus crisis, director
James Cameron is all set to resume production on ‘
Avatar 2
’, the sequel of the 2009 blockbuster hit. According to the latest update, filming is set to begin on in New Zealand by next week.
Sharing a sneak peek at an elaborate set along with boat-like vessels for the shoot, producer Jon Landau was happy to share the updates with fans to get them excited for the film’s release in 2021.
"Our #Avatar sets are ready - and we couldn't be more excited to be headed back to New Zealand next week. Check out the Matador, a high speed forward command vessel (bottom) and the Picador jetboat (top) - can't wait to share more," Landau captioned his post.
Besides sharing photos of the high-tech vessels set to be used in this sequel, the makers have also released photos of the cast shooting some scenes in the water.
A few concept artworks have also been shared to give fans a glimpse at the new backdrop the film will be set in that is a stark contrast to the forest setting we saw in ‘Avatar’.
The production on the sequels reportedly stopped mid-March after the New Zealand government announced a lockdown to contain the spread of the virus in the country.
It had previously been reported that Cameron planned to complete the ‘Avatar’ sequel by the end of 2020 while charting out the release dates of follow-ups set to release every two years.

David Thewlis, the film which is slated for a worldwide release in December 2021.
