Matthew Perry had a heartwarming family visit just a week before his unexpected passing. The beloved actor, famous for his role in the hit TV series Friends, passed away at the age of 54 on October 28.
Before his passing, Matthew took to social media to share a touching moment he had with his father,
John Bennett Perry. In an Instagram post, Matthew could be seen with his arm around his 82-year-old father, and he humorously captioned the image, "Here is me, and my father John, both holding a beverage."
John Bennett Perry is also an actor, known for his appearances in films like 'Lipstick' (1976), 'Independence Day' (1996), and 'George of the Jungle' (1997).
He has had numerous television roles in shows such as ‘The West Wing,’ ‘L.A. Law,’ ‘Days of Our Lives,’ and ‘Little House on the Prairie,’ among others.
Matthew Perry's untimely death was reported on Saturday, October 28, at his Los Angeles, California home. First responders attended to him after he was found in his jacuzzi, but despite his well-documented struggle with addiction, no foul play is suspected at this time.
In his 2022 memoir, 'Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir,' Perry opened up about a near-death experience he faced in 2018. He revealed that his years of opioid use led to a serious medical event when his colon “exploded” while he was living in a sober living house in California. This ordeal left him in a coma for two weeks and required a five-month hospital stay. Perry candidly described, "I had been on opiates, and off opiates, and back on different opiates for so long that I suffered from a situation that only a subset of the population gets. Opiates cause constipation. It's kind of poetic. I was so full of s--t it almost killed me."
