One of the most acclaimed and celebrated Hollywood filmmakers of all time, James Cameron has always created world-class action and sci-fi movies like ‘The Terminator’, ‘Aliens’ and ‘Avatar’. His latest offering as producer, ‘Alita: Battle Angel’, based on

Yukito Kishiro

’s classic manga series, is slated to hit screens in India on February 8, a week before its worldwide release.

The story of a young female cyborg discovered and rebuilt by the scientist who becomes her father figure is set in an unique and futuristic world. Cameron spent years developing the technology to be able to bring the film’s complicated visuals to life. Director Robert Rodriguez says, “We designed a set that could work as the entire city, but by connecting some streets and being clever on how you shoot with angles, we could make it look much bigger. When I did ‘

El Mariachi

’, I only had two streets, and everybody would be running in circles! I had a lot more to work with here. But I never thought I would see something with that detail and scale in Texas. I am sure that this is the biggest set that we’ve ever had.”

After extensive search, Rodriguez cast Rosa Salazar (Maze Runner series fame) to play the lead. Rosa says, “Alita is just like me. She has a whole palette of emotions. She’s insecure, brave, courageous, strong, curious and defiant all at once. She has a real soul and I think that she bares it all the time.” The film releases in IMAX and 3D in India.
