In latest reports, Disney has reportedly confirmed that it does not intend to go ahead with another reboot of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Lots of excitement was generated on social media pages after some initial reports claimed that
Johnny Depp is set to return in another installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean film series.
The Curse of the Black Pearl, released in 2003, was the first film in the Pirates of the Caribbean series which starred Johnny Depp in the lead role.
Based on Walt Disney’s theme park attraction of the same name, the film series had an American fantasy swashbuckler theme which included Johnny Depp in the lead role and
Keira Knightley,
Orlando Bloom,
Geoffrey Rush and others in supporting roles.
Johnny Depp continued his role as the lovable Captain Jack Sparrow in four sequels to the first film from 2003 to 2017. Plans for a sixth film were on the way according to the veteran producer
Jerry Bruckheimer, however they were put on hold after Depp was accused of abuse by his ex-wife Amber Heard and then Johnny Depp’s subsequent defamation trial against Amber Heard became the center stage of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s lives.
Despite Johnny Depp winning the suit, Disney as of now has no plans to continue with a fifth sequel for Pirates of the Caribbean.
