The much-anticipated film A Complete Unknown, starring Timothée Chalamet as a young Bob Dylan, is set to release in India on February 28. Directed by
James Mangold, the movie has already received multiple Oscar nominations and was first released in the United States on December 25 last year.
As reported by PTI, the film is based on the book Dylan Goes Electric by Elijah Wald and explores the early years of the legendary musician. Set in the 1960s, it follows a 19-year-old Dylan as he arrives in New York’s West Village with his guitar, ready to change the course of American music. The story focuses on his rise to fame, the personal relationships he builds, and his eventual decision to break away from the traditional folk music scene—an artistic choice that caused controversy but also left a lasting impact on the music industry.
PTI also mentioned that the film has earned eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director for Mangold, and Best Actor for Chalamet. Alongside Chalamet, the cast features
Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, and Monica Barbaro in key roles.
James Mangold, known for directing Logan and Ford v Ferrari, has brought Dylan’s early career to life with a mix of drama and historical accuracy. The movie captures the cultural and musical revolution of the 1960s, highlighting the challenges Dylan faced as he transitioned from folk to electronic music—a shift that sparked intense debate among his fans and critics alike.
Meanwhile, Chalamet has been making headlines not only for his film performances but also for his personal life. Hindustan Times reported that the actor recently attended the 2025 BAFTA Awards with his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner. The couple was spotted twinning in black outfits, holding hands, and attending various public events together. They also spent part of their Valentine’s Day in Berlin at a screening of A Complete Unknown during the Berlin Film Festival.
With its strong performances and a compelling story about one of music’s greatest icons, A Complete Unknown is expected to attract a lot of attention when it arrives in Indian theaters. Fans of Dylan and Chalamet alike are eagerly awaiting its release.
