Taylor Swift’s surprising influence on casting for 'It Ends With Us', says director

Taylor Swift’s unexpected involvement in the casting of 'It Ends With Us', the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. While fans were already aware of Blake Lively’s connection to the project, many were surprised to learn that Swift also played a role in selecting a key cast member.

During an interview with Access Hollywood, which has recently gained attention again, Justin Baldoni, the film’s director, revealed that he had sought input from both Blake Lively and Taylor Swift when casting the younger version of Lively’s character, Lily Bloom.

Ferrer, who plays the younger version of Lily Bloom, confirmed in an interview with Extra that Swift had indeed been involved in the decision-making process. However, she admitted she was unaware of it at the time.

Blake Lively, who plays Lily Bloom, has previously spoken about Swift’s involvement in another important aspect of the film. In a 2024 interview with CBS Mornings, Lively revealed that she had personally asked Swift for permission to use her song "My Tears Ricochet" in the film’s trailer and soundtrack.
