National award-winning filmmaker Nila Madhab Panda walked the red carpet along with a few other internationally acclaimed filmmakers from different parts of the globe at the official screening of the film

Interdependence

at the International Film Festival of

Rome

, held at Auditorium

Parco della Musica

, Sala Petrassi in Via Coubertin 30 recently. This unique feature film, addressing the issue of global

climate change

, has been made for the UN.

Nila was among the eleven internationally recognised filmmakers, from eleven countries, who had joined forces to raise awareness on the effects of climate change through a unique anthology of films on this issue. The anthology that comprises eleven films, includes Nila’s Megha’s Divorce. All the films are illustrations that reflect the intertwined relations between the human society and the natural environment that are reflected by climate change on multiple dimensions and scales.

Nila, who is the only Indian among the 11 acclaimed filmmakers, informed that his film was about air pollution in Delhi and how it has affected a family that’s on the verge of splitting away.

“I’m very happy to present Megha’s Divorce at the prestigious International Film Festival of Rome. I am proud to be part of this anthology. It’s an interesting way to tell a story of our world and what is happening to it today. All the 11 countries are representing their viewpoints on one burning issue that’s climate change. I hope that the film creates some sense of urgency about this. We will soon bring the film to India as well,” said the filmmaker, who is from Odisha.

On the day before the screening of the film, all the filmmakers were invited for a reception dinner hosted by the Swiss Ambassador, Rita Adams, at her residence.

This feature film is going to be screened at the

Geneva

Assembly of the United Nations in Geneva on November 14 and the UNFCC COP 25, Santiago Climate Change Conference on December 2 and 3.
