Veteran Odia singer
Trupti Das
enthralled the attendees of second
khati
organised by
Cuttack Heritage Walks
(CHW) recently. The singer, who has spent over half a century in Odia music industry, enlightened the participants about her five-decade long experience. Besides, current young music sensation
Antara Chakraborty
also crooned one song of the veteran singer to huge applause.
The
CHW Khati
saw more than 30 participants who had come from various parts of the country. People from different age groups and various walks of life attended this evening session to keep up the khati culture of Cuttack. People from Bangalore and Hyderabad were also among the attendees.
Khati in Cuttack is similar to
Adda
in Kolkata, where some people gather at a street corner and talk about various things. CHW Khati is an attempt to give this informal Khati a formal set up, where people can talk and discuss about various topics and listen from an expert.
Attending the evening session, Trupti said that she felt a different vibe here. “Unlike the events I have attended till date that are very formal, here it’s informal and intimate,” said the singer who has given numerous super-hit songs in Odia, Hindi, Kannada and other languages. She was also former president of
Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy
.
