India has not been immune to the Hallyu wave that swept award seasons and film festivals. Parasite was among the first Korean films that was theatrically released and had shows in multiple cities, and in the last couple of years, Korean films have gained huge popularity in the country.
On Wednesday, PVR INOX hosted a preview of filmmaker Celine Song’s debut film Past Lives. The film which is about the reconnection of two childhood friends, was screened in Delhi and Mumbai. In a zoom conversation, Celine Song introduced the film to a select audience in Mumbai.
The film premiered at Sundance Film Festival, this year. In its description the festival mentioned, "It’s that rarest of works that transports us, impossibly, to someplace deep in our souls, in between a life we’ve longed for and the life we live."

It further states,"An aching, deeply romantic debut feature from playwright Celine Song (Endlings), Past Lives is a love story — indeed, several — told across three moments in time. Song’s artful aesthetic and profound character writing, and the spellbinding performances she draws from Greta Lee, Teo Yoo, and John Magaro (whose fates intertwine) explore love, identity, and “In Yun,” a Korean notion of fate stemming from two people’s connection in a past life"
