The spirit of Holi and Vasant Utsav came alive in London as Odissi guru Dona Ganguly led a celebration filled with music, dance, and the exuberance of spring. Under her esupervision, the event transformed into a vibrant showcase of Indian culture, featuring performances to songs like
Rangiye Diye Jao and
Des Rangeela that left the audience enthralled. In London, the celebration took on a global flair, following a recent Vasant Utsav hosted by her dance school, Diksha Manjari, at the Indian Museum in Kolkata.
The evening unfolded with a harmonious blend of Indian classical music, popular Hindi Holi songs, and the poetic resonance of Rabindra Sangeet. Dancers moved gracefully to
Vasant Pallavi,
Dhol Baje,
Eki Labanye Purna Pran and
Ore Grihobashi, while their performances wove a tapestry of rhythm and colour. Dona’s troupe, a mix of seasoned artists and joyful newcomers, embodied the festival’s inclusive spirit, inviting everyone to share in the celebration.
