Disha Patani and
Aditya Roy Kapur teamed up for
Mohit Suri's romantic thriller 'Malang' and left the audience stunned with their onscreen brilliance. The film which received a good response from the audience has now managed to surpass the Rs 50 crore mark in the domestic circuit.
According to the latest Box Office India report, 'Malang' managed to mint another Rs 13.35 crore in its second week which took its total collection to a staggering figure of Rs 51.07 crore.
The film which had earned Rs 37.72 crore in its first week also stars
Anil Kapoor and
Kunal Kemmu in pivotal roles.
In an exclusive chat with ETimes, filmmaker Mohit Suri revealed that the sequel is on the cards. "Sequel to ‘Malang’ is definitely on the cards but I cannot confirm at the moment," he said. Furthermore, he even talked about the film's success. He said, "Malang is an off-beat film with an ensemble star cast. Despite many big films releasing around it, it is sustaining the weekend after the weekend. Most people had given up on it even before releasing it. So this film collecting Rs 50 crore is more in valuation than the film which does Rs 450+ business at the box-office. The film today has spoken for itself. "
Meanwhile, on the other hand, ace filmmaker
Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 'Shikara: The Untold Story of Kashmiri Pandits' which marked the debut of Aadil Khan and Sadia in Bollywood minted Rs 90 lakhs to reach a total of Rs 7.14 crore.
