Ashok Samarth, who plays a lead role in Rajneesh Berry's ‘695’, joined ETimes for an exclusive chat where he opened up about the film, his character 'Mahant Paramhans Ramchandra' and much more.

While speaking about the film, Ashok Samarth said, "695'—a 500-year saga chronicling the unwavering struggle for the construction of the Shriram temple on Shriram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. The film's title (695) is very unique, and the numbers 6, 9, and 5 have a great contribution to the Shriram temple. On 6th December 1992, the Babri structure was demolished in Ayodhya; on 9th November 2019, the Supreme Court’s verdict came in favor of the temple; on 5th August 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the bhoomi-pujan ceremony of the temple."

Ashok continued, "I am playing the character of 'Mahant Ramchandra Das Paramhans', a man who was highly regarded for his religious acumen. He was a saint and activist for the liberation of Ram Janmabhoomi and the construction of the Ram temple. Playing real-life characters is a huge responsibility. Mahant Ramchandra Das Paramhans was not an ordinary saint; he was an activist, leader, and catalyst who fought relentlessly for the construction of the Ayodhya Ram Temple. Through innumerable sacrifices and struggles for the Shriram temple for the last 500 years, now that the temple has been constructed for our Lord Ram, it is a triumph of relentless struggle and sacrifices."
