Fans of the 2007 hit ‘Welcome’ will remember the hilarious scene where Majnu Bhai, played by Anil Kapoor, sold his unique horse painting to Miss Ishika at an auction. That iconic artwork is making a surprise appearance in Kartik Aaryan's upcoming film, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’. Director Anees Bazmee has revealed that this famous painting, featured in the horror-comedy trailer, has a surprising link to renowned artist M.F. Husain. Bazmee recently disclosed that the painting wasn’t actually Majnu Bhai’s creation, but his own.
During a chat with Pinkvilla, Bazmee shared insights about Majnu Bhai from ‘Welcome’. He highlighted that Majnu Bhai, portrayed as a "great painter," is known for his live art in the film. Bazmee recalled a particular scene where a painting was needed for an auction. The production team brought several artworks, but Bazmee found them too good for Majnu Bhai’s comedic persona, as the character's artistic abilities were humorously exaggerated.

Anees recalled that during his school days, he had never painted, but he attempted to paint the horse as his first effort. He revealed that his inspiration came from spending time with the renowned painter M.F. Husain. While working on Husain's 2000 film ‘Gaja Gamini’, Bazmee spent a month alongside the legendary artist, which influenced his creative journey.
After attempting to paint the horse, Bazmee felt unsure if the audience would take it seriously, so he decided to draw another horse over it. However, in trying to improve the artwork, he ended up making the figure resemble a donkey instead, adding a lighthearted twist to his story.
Kartik Aaryan's starrer ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ will also feature Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, and Triptii Dimri in key roles.
