Netflix India's upcoming crime drama, 'Bhakshak,' inspired by true events, is set to premiere on February 9. Produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma under Red Chillies Entertainment, the film is directed by Pulkit. The cast includes Bhumi Pednekar, Sanjay Mishra, Aditya Srivastava, and Sai Tamhankar in key roles. A teaser was recently released, providing a glimpse into the intriguing narrative.
'Bhakshak' explores the unwavering journey of Bhumi Pednekar's character, Vaishali Singh, an investigative journalist seeking justice for a heinous crime against women. The teaser hints at Bhumi's compelling performance in a deglamourized role, marking a departure from her previous urban comedy. The film addresses critical societal issues, promising a powerful narrative set to captivate audiences.
At the end of the teaser, Bhumi is seen telling a girl, “Bachchon ke adhikar ke liye lad rahe hain hum, samajh rahi ho?
Director Pulkit, in a statement, expressed the intention behind "Bhakshak," stating, "Our aim was to shed light on the harsh realities of society and spark conversations that lead to meaningful change. I'm looking forward to more people joining this important dialogue."
Red Chillies Entertainment, owned by Shah Rukh Khan, has recently produced cinema hits like 'Jawan' and 'Dunki.' 'Bhakshak' is the production house's first digital release in a couple of years, following the dark comedy 'Darlings' in 2022, marking a return to the digital space after a successful cinematic run.
Gaurav Verma, producer at Red Chillies Entertainment, stated, “We believe in storytelling that not only entertains but also enlightens. This film is a testament to our commitment to narratives that provoke thought and inspire societal reflections."
