Jagdeep. While the late actor had started his career as a child artist in the 1951 film ‘Afsana’, his film career went on decades wherein he has performed in over 400 films. As fans continue to remember him today, let us take a walk down the memory lane and revisit late Jagdeep’s best contributions in the film industry.
Jagdeep rose to fame with the blockbuster film ‘Sholay’ starring Amitabh Bachchan,
Dharmendra, and a host of A-listers. In the film, Jagdeep portrayed the titular role of
Soorma Bhopali
, a businessman. Later the iconic character paved the way for a feature film titled ‘Soorma Bhopali’.
Jagdeep has also co-starred in Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic film ‘Shahenshah’ directed by Tinnu Anand.
He is also a part of Feroz Khan starrer ‘Qurbani’ in 1980. Featuring a multi-starrer cast including Zeenat Aman, Vinod Khanna and Jagdeep wherein he was seen as iconic boxer Muhammad Ali.
The senior actor is also known for essaying the role of Salman Khan’s father in the hit comedy film ‘Andaz Apna Apna’.
Another cult comedy ‘Journey Bombay to Goa: Laughter Unlimited’ helmed by Raj Pendurkar also features Jagdeep at his best. Marking a collaborating between comedy legends like Jagdeep, Asrani, Sunil Pal and others, the film was another success at the Box Office.
Jagdeep passed away on July 8, 2020. “He passed away at 8.30 pm at his residence in Bandra. He was not keeping well due to age related issues," producer Mehmood Ali told PTI.
