John Abraham hints at 'Pathaan' sequel exploring Jim’s backstory: 'Yes, there have been discussions'

John Abraham impressed fans with his portrayal of the antagonist, Jim, in Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan. Released in 2023, the action-thriller marked the fourth installment in the YRF Spy Universe. While rumors have been swirling about a possible Pathaan prequel exploring Jim’s backstory, Abraham recently shared insights into its real status.
According to Pinkvilla, John Abraham was asked about his popular character, Jim, from Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. When questioned about the possibility of a spin-off exploring Jim’s backstory and any discussions with Aditya Chopra, the actor shared his thoughts on the matter.

John shared, "With Adi, only he knows in his head what he's discussing with himself. Yes, there have been discussions. I hope it sees the light of day, but I honestly, and it's not like I'm trying to keep something away. I can't comment on it because I too don't know, but I hope it happens. It looks interesting, so I hope it happens."
Additionally, during the conversation, The Diplomat actor acknowledged that it’s easy to get stereotyped in the industry.
Negative Roles Post-Pathaan
John revealed that after his portrayal of Jim in Pathaan, he received numerous offers for similar negative roles from across the industry. However, he admitted that he declines such roles almost instantly, taking only a few seconds to say no.
Abraham said his father taught him to say no as easily as saying yes. When asked if it was hard to reject offers, he replied that he simply says no, and that's it.
