John Abraham and Shah Rukh Khan were against each other in 'Pathaan'. While John played the antagonist in the movie, which also starred Deepika Padukone, he won hearts with his portrayal. Not to mention, people found the chemistry between him and SRK too good. So much so, that romantic memes were made on it and people thought they would make the perfect cast for 'Dostana 2'. John who is currently seen in 'The Diplomat' has now reacted to these viral memes.
He was asked if he pays attention to everything that goes on social media and he responded to News18 Showsha, "I don’t have social media on my phone but my team tells me about the things that happen there. And yes, I’ve seen that meme (laughs)."
People also loved when Shah Rukh gave a kiss on John's cheeks during the film's press conference in Mumbai after it was a huge success. The 'Jism' actor further reacted to the viral memes and said, "There’s also this other scene where we come really close to each other and they played ‘Bheege Honth Tere’ in the background. I saw it and it looked like the most romantic film ever (laughs). On a serious note, it was a pleasure working with Shah Rukh. Each day was a delight on the sets. I wish more of such big commercial films happen because we need those as well."
In this interview, John also spoke about how Hindi cinema makers should learn from Malayalam Cinema. He said, "There’s a certain humility that they bring to their cinema. They’re also very concerned about their craft, which is very important. To encapsulate what we’re speaking about, we, as an industry, should go back to our craft. We need to go back and focus on the writing, the direction and the performance, and start all over again. If we want to survive, we’ve to unlearn everything."
Meanwhile, 'The Diplomat' is doing well in cinemas and has seen growth due to positive word of mouth. It has crossed Rs 28 crore at the box office now.
