Meenal Kapoor has received positive feedback for her performance in the film ‘Kill’, in which she portrays
Tanya Maniktala’s mother and Harsh Chhaya’s wife. With 17 years in the industry, Meenal is well aware of the fierce competition involved in securing roles. She says, “There’s no shortage of talent, and the competition is particularly tough in my age group. On top of that, strong roles for female actors that allow them to showcase their potential and versatility are few and far between.
When such roles exist, they often go to the more popular actresses.”
Despite the challenges, Meenal has learnt there are no shortcuts to achieving success and longevity in the industry. She shares, “Consistent hard work and delivering your best will sustain you. Success is a subjective term. For some, it’s about money, for others, it’s fame. For me, success lies in securing a wide range of characters across various mediums.”

This is why she feels fortunate to be part of ‘Kill’, a film backed by Karan Johar, Guneet Monga, Apoorva Mehta, and Achin Jain. The film has received attention for its action sequences. Meenal shares, “Yes, the action sequences were top-notch. Watching my co-actors perform such well-designed, high-octane action scenes often tempted me to join in. However, I had to quell the urge, as my character was very docile and submissive – a typical, homely, caregiving housewife.”
Recalling another incident from the shoot, she adds, “Whiteners were used on my hair to maintain continuity, and every time, seeing my childlike energy and off-camera body language, Tanya’s makeup and hair artist would often call me ‘Santoor mom’ (laughs!).”

The actress has a bucket list of characters she aspires to portray. She shares, “I wish to portray acclaimed writer-poet Kamala Das, whose work is deeply personal, especially her poems on passion and unrequited love. I would also like to portray Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. I hope the casting fraternity takes notice of my wishes before I age physically and considers me for a biopic of a sportswoman, as I have also learnt swimming and judo and participated in competitions. So, the fighting spirit comes naturally to me.”
