Saurabh Varma, the writer-director of Mickey Virus has announced his next, a laugh riot called ‘Meet The Patels’. The film is based in Mumbai and is about two Gujarati boys Tom Patel and Jerry Patel and what happens to them. Shiv Pandit of ‘Shaitan’ and ‘Boss’ fame has been roped in to play the very odd Tom Patel, an urban Gujarati boy who knows how to live life to its fullest.
On pondering why he was chosen for the role, director Saurabh Varma says, “Shiv is one of those few actors who possess amazing comic timing. If you recall, he was the lead in the TV series ‘FIR’ and played a memorable character which is remembered even today. In ‘Meet The Patels’ he will portray a character who is quirky, and identifiable with the youth. Shiv is clearly the surprise package of the film.” News is that Shiv is currently undergoing intense training to transform himself into the character.
Shiv Pandit adds, “I am a big fan of the clean comedy genre and it is something I have not tried before on the big screen. The film has a bigger hero than me — the script, which is funny and had me in splits. I am excited as well as nervous, and hope that I will be able to pull off playing a character, which the audiences will love.”
“Shiv Pandit has been a great choice for ‘Meet the Patels’, and we feel he has the range to portray the comic shades of the lead character, with aplomb,” adds Raj Malik, Vice President-Production at Krian Media, the producers of the film.
The film goes on floors on November 1st and will be released on April 24th next year.
