After
Sudeep lit up the screen as Vishnuvardhana in
Only Vishnuvardhana, it's now
Darshan's turn to be seen as
Ambareesh. Talking about what made them choose the title
Ambareesh, the makers of this new film, to take off in early 2013, say that the bond between two friends in the movie is similar to the real-life friendship shared by Ambareesh and Darshan in Kannada cinema.
Director Mahesh Sukhadhare says, 'While their friendship is a big reason, the character that Darshan essays in the film is another reason for the title. Since it is a powerful character, we needed it to reflect in the title. We initially discussed names like Bhairava and Guru, but we felt it didn't reflect well enough. So we narrowed it down to
Ambareesh.' Mahesh adds, 'Darshan also received rave reviews for his performance as the rebel warrior in
Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna, and many in the industry called him the next Rebel Star. Since that is a title earned by Ambareesh, it was yet another reason to call the film Ambareesh.' Rebel Star Ambareesh was also consulted on this, and the team says that he not only gave his consent to the film, but has also agreed to play a cameo in it.
