According to Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police CK Baba, neighbours last saw Guruprasad entering his apartment about five to six days before his body was found. When police were alerted, they forced entry into the locked apartment and found Guruprasad's body in a decomposed state. Initial investigations suggest that he may have been struggling with significant financial issues, which could have contributed to his tragic decision.

Reports indicate that Guruprasad had faced mounting debts and pressure from creditors, particularly following the failure of his recent film 'Ranganayaka'. Additionally, he had recently remarried after a previous divorce and was reportedly dealing with personal challenges. His last known project was Adema, which was still under production at the time of his death.

The filmmaker was known for his notable works such as 'Mata', 'Eddelu Manjunatha', and 'Director’s Special'.
