Kannada film industry’s veteran cinematographer

passed away yesterday at the age of 87. He breathed his last at his residence last evening in Bangalore. Srikanth was a well-known

cinematographer

in the Kannada film industry. He was the one who brought ‘Trick Photography’ into Sandalwood by experimenting with dual character technique in the movie ‘

Babruvahana

’.

Srikanth was born in Maddur, Karnataka, and completed his graduation to work as a photographer in Mysore. Later, he worked as a camera operator in Bollywood movies, and became an independent cinematographer. He worked in more than 70 movies under great directors in different industries.

Srikanth also won Best Cinematographer awards from the state government for movies like ‘Gejjepooje’, ‘Margadarshi’ and ‘Upasane’, ‘Babruvahana’, ‘Premamayi’, ‘Ashrutarpana’, ‘Jeevana Chaitra’, ‘Akasmika’, ‘Sakshatkara’, ‘Trimurthi’, ‘Haisiyat’, ‘Wafadar’ and others. These were the best movies in the veteran cinematographer’s career.
