In a tribute to the frontlines heroes - the doctors, nurses, health, sanitation workers and the police force who are battling the pandemic - the Ballari District Police has roped in some of Karnataka’s top musicians to create a music video. The music video, titled
Vishwamanava (People of the World), showcases the efforts to contain the pandemic, while featuring popular artistes who recorded parts from their homes during lockdown. The song will be available on Vasu Dixit’s YouTube channel from August 8.
The song
Vishwamanava is an attempt to spread the message of love and unity, while making a firm point that social distancing is only physical and not emotional. According to the creators, in the face of this pandemic, there is a need to provide support and empathy, irrespective of gender, caste, class, creed and religion.
Singer and composer Vasu Dixit has brought together Pravin Godkhindi,
Raghu Dixit,
MD Pallavi
,
Vaarijashree Venugopal
, Ambi Subramaniam, Nakul Abhyankar,
Pramath Kiran
and Bindhumalini N for the song. The musicians behind the melody are

With a cause in mind, the artistes have worked pro bono on the song without any remuneration. Lyricist Kiran Kaverappa has done a splendid job of capturing the spirit of the song in his lyrics. Composer and singer Vasu Dixit, who brought the musicians together, says, “They recorded and shot their music video parts by themselves from their homes and home studios and yet we could create a coherent music video that conveys the message of togetherness.”
