Popular K-pop singer BoA recently apologized after making a controversial comment about comedian Park Na Rae during a casual live stream. The incident happened on April 5, while BoA was chatting and having drinks with TV personality Jun Hyun Moo at his home. The live stream started off in a fun and relaxed way, but things took a turn when a viewer asked about dating rumors involving Jun Hyun Moo and Park Na Rae.
Before Jun Hyun Moo could respond, BoA quickly jumped in and said, “I don’t think so.” When Jun Hyun Moo tried to continue the conversation and jokingly asked BoA if she thought Park Na Rae was too good for him, BoA responded, “No, you’re too good for her.” This comment didn’t sit well with many viewers.
Fans watching the live stream were surprised and upset. They felt BoA's comment was rude and unnecessary, especially since Park Na Rae wasn’t there to respond. Many netizens expressed their disappointment online, saying BoA should have known better given her long career and respected position in the entertainment industry.
As backlash grew, BoA posted a public apology on the platform Weverse on April 7. In her message, she admitted that her behavior was immature and careless. She said, “I sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable due to my careless words and behavior, and my immature conduct during the social media live broadcast on April 5.”
She also apologized directly to Park Na Rae, saying she had already reached out to her personally and thanked her for understanding. “I want to say sorry to Park Na Rae for making inappropriate comments about her in her absence,” BoA wrote.
BoA also shared her regrets with her fans, acknowledging that she let them down. She promised to learn from this situation and be more thoughtful in the future. “To the fans who have supported and loved me for such a long time despite my shortcomings, I am deeply sorry. I will take this incident as an opportunity to reflect on myself once again.”
