The upcoming film ‘Idi Mazha Kattu,’ a multi-starrer that has actors like
Sreenath Bhasi, Chemban Vinod, Senthil, Puja Deb, Priyamvada Krishnan and more cast in important roles, discusses the various aspects around migration.
The film, directed by Ambily S Rengan, who has previously made many TV serials, has just about 10 days of shoot left at this point. Director Ambily tells us more about the film, “The shoot of the movie got delayed due to Covid – 19 and at the moment, we have just a few portions left to be shot in Kerala and West Bengal.
The film is a travel movie and also a satire, which discusses political aspects and more around migration. The film has a lower middle class Bengali girl, who comes to Kerala as a labourer. She meets a couple of people here and the story progresses showing the various developments around it.”
The film has story and dialogues by Kendra Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar winner Amal Pirappancode. Its screenplay is co-written by Amal and Ambily. The film also has actor – D j Shekhar Menon doing a notable role.
Ambily says that being a travel film it incorporates the dialects and conversational styles of people across the State. He has also roped in real-life policemen and local people as characters at the various locations they were shot in. Ambily says, “We see a lot of non-Malayali guest workers in our State at the moment now and the movie attempts to discuss issues that are quite pertinent at this time.”
