Sustaining the Momentum

With the weekend ahead, L2: Empuraan has a chance to pick up momentum again, especially in Kerala. The mixed word-of-mouth may impact long-term prospects, but Mohanlal’s star power remains a key factor in driving collections. All eyes are now on Day 3 to see if the film can sustain and cross bigger milestones. ETimes review for the film reads, “Deepak Dev’s music perfectly matches the brilliantly visualised scenes; we get involved Khureshi’s quests and get a feel for the mood, thanks to this. Sujith Vasudev’s camerawork balances the fast and mellow scenes superbly throughout. The actors, including Mohanlal and Manju Warrier, come across as a bit restrained. Maybe we would like to see a bit more bombast in a mass entertainer. It is definitely interesting to see director Prithviraj mount a Malayalam film that travels from Africa to the MI6 HQ in London to the Middle East. It definitely lifts the bar for our filmmakers.” On the other hand, since the film is getting mixed reviews, there are chances that the Mohanlal starrer may have a dip in collections in upcoming days.
