Anil Xavier, the talented sculptor and assistant director known for his work in popular Malayalam films such as ‘Jan-e-Man’, ‘Thallumaala’, ‘Manjummel Boys’, and the upcoming Suraj Venjaramoodu starrer ‘Thekku Vadakku’, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, in Kochi. He was 39 years old. Anil had been receiving treatment at a private hospital for a heart-related ailment, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his condition.

A resident of Angamaly, Anil was recognized in the film industry and made significant contributions to the world of art. He was involved in art training in Angamaly, alongside his wife, artist Anupama Elias. Anil's journey in the arts began after he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from RLV College, Tripunithura, followed by a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Sculpture from the University of Hyderabad.



During his time at the University of Hyderabad, Anil created the memorial sculpture of Rohith Vemula, a contemporary and fellow student. His artistic talents also extended to his participation in the prestigious Kochi-Muziris Biennale, where he contributed to Kerala's vibrant cultural and artistic landscape.

Anil's mortal remains will be kept at his residence in Angamaly on Wednesday, August 28, from 10 am to 12 pm, and later at the NAS auditorium in Angamaly until 3 pm. Fulfilling his wish, his body will be handed over for medical studies, as per his wish.
