Ponman - Official Trailer
Reportedly, the
Jotish Shankar’s directorial has collected Rs 8.67 crores from Kerala in 14 days and the early estimates say that the engaging drama movie has made a high of Rs 13 lakhs on day 14.
Even though the collections are decent, looking at the day-wise performance, we can see a heavy decline. The
Basil Joseph starrer opened with a magnificent Rs 1.37 crores at the KBO followed by Rs 44 lakhs, Rs 43 lakhs, Rs 44 lakhs, Rs 42 lakhs, Rs 45 lakhs, Rs 82 lakhs, Rs 97 lakhs, Rs 30 lakhs, Rs 30 lakhs, and Rs 13 lakhs. A heavy decline is visible on day 12. This slow decline can surely affect the long run for ‘Ponman’ in cinemas.
Meanwhile, ‘Ponman’ is getting good reviews from the audiences. Our official rating for the movie 4.5 stars out of 5 and ETimes review reads, “The actors are all at their brilliant best. Basil Joseph brings Ajesh’s pain and grit to life; we want to hug him, be his friend, help him. He is superb. Lijo Mol puts heart into a difficult character. Sajin Gopu, Anand Manmadan, Deepak Parambol have all done their part to bring perfection to their character. And while Jothish had great material to work with, he has taken the movie to another level with subtle touches: when Steffi admires the gold in a moment of privacy, when Bruno gets a call in a moment of desperation, while he is waiting with Ajesh sleeping in the room, and we don’t hear a word but we just almost know what it is about, and when Ajesh has a final monologue with Steffi. This is cinematic gold.”
