| Anna Mathews | TNN | Apr 23, 2024, 15:06 IST
Actor Nivin Pauly is in his element as he promotes the World Malayalee Anthem, a peppy song that contains all the idiosyncrasies that Malayalis are famous for, as part of the Dijo Jose Antony-directorial Malayalee from India. The promo song contains particularly talks about the Keralite’s pioneering spirit which means they can be found in every corner of the globe, and even on the moon.

The song written by the film’s scriptwriter Sharis Mohammed, together with Suhail Koya, and composed by Jakes Bejoy is accompanied by a fun video showing Nivin at his comedic best.

It starts out with Dijo asking the actor, who is lounging by the pool, if he would be willing to do another round of promos considering their Krishna song, featuring Nivin and co-stars Dhyan Sreenivasan and Anaswara Rajan, has done well. Nivin doesn’t take well to the idea at first, but when some foreign tourists call him a Mallu, it proves to be the last straw. Don’t miss his reference to ‘Paul Barber’, the thief that the CIDs Vijayan and Dasan are searching for in the US in ‘90s cult comedy Akkare Akkare Akkare.

The World Malayalee Anthem in the upcoming film is an answer to what the Malayali can do and his position around the globe. The song starts as a peppy track, looking at Kerala’s history, culture and politics, and Tamil rapper Asal Kolaar takes over the second half and talks about how the two states share close ties.
