Digpal Lanjekar on why he cast Mukesh Rishi as Afzal Khan in 'Sher Shivraj' - Exclusive

Maratha history enthusiast Digpal Lanjekar who is making headlines for his upcoming historical epic 'Sher Shivraj', revealed the reason for casting veteran star Mukesh Rishi to play Afzal Khan in 'Sher Shivraj'.
In an exclusive chat with ETimes, Digpal Lanjekar said "I think Mukesh Rishi is just perfect. According to history, Afzal Khan had a strong persona and Mr Rishi has the eyes, persona and physique which perfectly resembles Afzal Khan. He was my first choice even before I’d locked the script"
When asked about his experience working with Mukesh Rishi, Lanjekar shared "He is a very generous actor. We did a lot of rehearsal and he was very cooperative during the shoot. I think he has done films in all languages. After coming with so many years of experience, it made our job easy"
Talking about the film, 'Sher Shivraj Hai' will not only focus on the killing of Afzal Khan but also based on the unique war and psychological techniques Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj exhibited during the mission.
It also stars Chinmay Mandlekar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Mrunmayee Deshpande, Ajay Purkar and Sameer Dharmadhikari in pivotal roles.
