In several situations, it has been noticed that the more famous you get the easier it becomes for people to target you. Over the years, several cases have been recorded that show how celebrities become soft targets for underworld mafia gangs. Be it Bollywood or Pollywood, no industry is spared, and as we speak Punjabi singer Ranjit Bawa is facing similar challenges. Reports suggest that Ranjit Bawa allegedly received an extortion call from an unidentified person, who has been booked by the cops.
A Hindustan Times report states that Ranjit’s manager Malkit Singh filed a complaint in November, admitting that he was at the singer’s house in Mohali when the threat call came. The call came on a number that has been shared on all social media platforms for bookings of the artist.
"Initially, we received a WhatsApp call from 447585019808 which I ignored. Later, we received an audio message from the same number, threatening us of dire consequences if we did not pay the extortion amount,” Malkit told the police.
Police didn’t take too much time in taking action, and they registered the case under Section 308 (2) (extortion) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against an unidentified person at the Phase-8 police station.
