I am a little more prepared this time: Niharika on walking the Cannes red carpet

One of the top content creators in the country, Niharika NM’s funny and quirky reels have managed to tickle the funny bones in many of us. Ahead of walking the red carpet at Cannes for the second time, today, Niharika spoke to us about the honour, collaborating with A-list stars, and her future plans.

I am extremely excited, but I am actually more nervous than that.The first time, I couldn’t believe I was doing it. This time, I am a little more prepared, and it’s always an honour to be able to represent the country.
COLLABORATING WITH A-LIST STARS
I’ve been so lucky for incredible actors wanting to make videos with me. Some of the biggest south actors whom I grew up watching have given me exclusive videos, and I am the first person they have made a reel with.
DEALING WITH CRITICISM
Putting yourself out there means you are open to scrutiny and everybody is going to have opinions. But I call myself the internet’s child as I have been on the internet since I was 16 years old. So, I think it’s OK for people to have opinions about me. It might not be nice, but not everybody has to like me. My content is not everybody’s cup of tea. So, that’s OK. I think that opinions are not always facts, but criticism is a challenge faced by all creators.
RECENT VIDEO WITH VIKRAM
He has won my heart, as he is one of the most incredible human beings I’ve ever met. He’s an icon, a legend and now, a dear friend and mentor to me. He’s such a perfectionist, and we spent hours on that video. I’d give him full credit for the video. It started off with my idea and then mostly became his. The screenplay was his, directing was his and he was involved in the editing. He is passionate about every piece of content he is a part of. Down south, I can never pick a favourite among the celebrities I’ve worked with. Even the time with Mahesh Babu sir and Vijay Deverakonda was so incredible.
FUTURE PLANS
I have always had a five-year plan in life. But with social media and the kind of field that I am in, I have learnt that you can never have a plan because things are so dynamic and it can change every day. So my plans for this moment is to have a stronger hold on social media so that I don’t flake on doing what I actually get the love for. As far as doing films, I am excited about it and am trying to find what fits me the best right now.
