Tanya Hope plays a vlogger in Vasanth Ravi's 'Weapon'

Last month, director Guhan Senniappan unveiled the first-look posters of Vasanth Ravi and Sathyaraj from his Weapon, and told us that he’s in the process of finalising the female lead for the film, which will start rolling from November. Now, we have it that Tanya Hope has been signed on for the role.
The actress confirms, “I got a call from Guhan, who narrated the story to me. I’ve heard good things about Guhan and his films, and I also really loved the role he had offered me.Plus, the film also stars Sathyaraj sir and Vasanth Ravi. This was one team I definitely wanted to work with. I signed the film a couple of days ago.”
Ask her what her character is, and she answers with caution, “So, I play this video blogger, who is looking out for interesting stuff to blog about, and accidentally discovers a whole new world. It’s not easy to slot the film into a genre. There is something supernatural, superhuman in the story, but it’s not horror. The director is exploring a new genre; he is trying to create a new universe.”
Tanya will be doing a table reading with the team for the film soon. “I’ve already got my lines and I’m looking forward to the reading session. I’ve never done a table reading before for any of my films. But since we are exploring a new genre in this one, it’s important to convince ourselves of what’s happening in the story so we can play the role with conviction,” she explains.
The team will start shooting from November 15. “I’ve been in Chennai for the last two weeks and wrapped up the shoot for Vaibhav’s suspense thriller with Sherief just yesterday. I’ll be back again next week for the table reading and to start work on Weapon. The plan is to shoot through November and December and finish the project by the first week of January. We’ll predominantly be shooting in Chennai, and maybe in Pondicherry,” she signs off
