Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu is working on his upcoming globe-trotter 'SSMB29,' directed by SS Rajamouli; however, reports were circulating regarding the actor's connection to the recent Bollywood film 'Chhaava,' which stars Vicky Kaushal in the lead role.
Rumors have been circulating that Mahesh Babu was initially approached for the titular character but turned down the offer. According to a report by 123Telugu, the director of the film
Laxman Utekar debunked those rumours.
During a pre-release event for the film, Utekar clarified that Vicky Kaushal was always his first choice for the role. He expressed his admiration for Kaushal, stating that he envisioned him as the hero of 'Chhaava" from the very beginning. Utekar shared that any director would be fortunate to work with such a talented actor.
The report's quotes read, "Vicky Kaushal has always been my only choice for Chhaava. Even in my dreams, he has been my hero for Chhaava. Any director can make a good film with an actor like Vicky. He is not just a great actor but also a wonderful human. I consider myself lucky because mere Chhaava ke liye ye Chhaava mila (I got a Chhaava (referring to Vicky Kaushal) for the film Chhaava)."
'Chhaava' is a historical action film that tells the story of Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire. Alongside Vicky Kaushal, the film features
Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai and includes a strong supporting cast with actors like Akshaye Khanna and Ashutosh Rana. The film has received positive responses since its release.
Despite Mahesh Babu’s name being linked to 'Chhaava,' it is clear that he was never in contention for the role.
Currently, Mahesh Babu is focused on 'SSMB29,' which marks his first collaboration with the ace director SS Rajamouli. The adventure drama film will be shot extensively both in India and abroad. Priyanka Chopra has been cast as the leading lady.
