Tollywood star
Allu Arjun is one of the biggest pan-India stars after the monumental success of the 'Pushpa' franchise. The actor comes from a prominent filmmaker family and has often been asked about nepotism, especially given his father
Allu Aravind’s stature as a powerful producer and his uncle Chiranjeevi’s legendary status. Throwback to the time when he shared his take on nepotism.
At the 2020 success meet of his blockbuster 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo', Allu Arjun addressed the nepotism debate thoughtfully. He compared his family’s dedication to the cinema to a priest's family tradition, that their commitment is to entertain the audience, whom he called "prekshaka devullu".
He said, "When people have to accuse a film family of hijacking cinema and repressing outside talent, they commonly use the term nepotism. A priest dedicated his entire life to God in a temple. His son walked in his footsteps. His son's son, too, did the same."
Despite having such an influential backing in the business, Allu Arjun's journey wasn't without struggles. After his debut film 'Gangotri', he faced a dry spell where offers stopped coming his way. It was director Sukumar who recognized his potential and cast him in 'Arya', a film that turned out to be a blockbuster and marked the turning point in his career, establishing him as a rising star.
On the current work front, Allu Arjun is now busy with his upcoming film now called, 'AA22xA6', directed by Atlee. This project will be a grand sci-fi action entertainer with a pan-India appeal. The film will include Bollywood actresses Janhvi Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, and Ananya Panday in the leading roles, however, an official announcement is yet to be made.
