The
Delhi High Court today on 14th July, 2022 heard a petition by several medical aspirants, who were seeking postponement of
NEET, National Eligibility Entrance Examination UG exam, which is scheduled to be conducted on 17th July, 2022 in 497 cities across the country and 14 outside India.
The Delhi High Court after hearing the counsel of petitioners for postponement for NEET UG 2022 exams has dismissed the petition, which was filed by 15
NEET UG aspirants.
The petitioners have demanded the postponement of NEET examination due to the fact that the other examination like Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and Common University Entrance Test (CUET) are also scheduled to be held with a gap of two to three days and with completely different syllabus as there is no scope for preparing the
NEET 2022 exams particularly.

The petition also claimed that the dates of several exams being within a few days gap has caused immense mental trauma and harassment resulting in 16 reported suicides of young students leaving their families in a state of despair. The petition was filed by advocate Mamta Sharma that stated that the board examination ended in mid of June 2022 and the students have been forced to prepare for three national-level examinations without getting sufficient time to prepare.
The court has pointed out that it was too late to file a petition for postponement of exams as they were aware of this in April itself then why to come just few days before exams.
The court was not convinced with the petitioners and said " The pressure can be tackled only with study. Ask your clients (students) to study hard. I wish them all the best and justice Sanjeev Narula further added that how come just 15 students decide whether the exam should be postponed or not when the exam is being written by lakhs of students."
As few areas are badly affected with floods and this is a matter of concern in view to postponement of NEET exam, on this Delhi High Court bench pointed out and said - this is the monsoon season and the natural disasters are there. Something or other keeps happening in the country. That can't be the basis to postpone the exams.
"I was quite inclined to pass order against the petitioner but only because these are students we are not going. If such petitions are filed then the court will not shy away from imposing costs," Hence, Justice Narula dismissed the plea. He further added that there was no merit in the petition.
With the dismissal of petition for postponement of
NEET UG 2022 examination, the students are left with no option but to prepare and participate in the exam on 17th July, 2022.
