Aligarh may soon be renamed Harigarh, resolution passed in civic body meeting

The mayor of Aligarh Nagar Nigam, Prashant Singhal, has announced that a resolution proposing the renaming of Aligarh to Harigarh has been passed by the civic body and will now be forwarded to the government for consideration. The renaming of Aligarh has been a longstanding demand, and a similar resolution was passed by the district council earlier.
Agra: Aligarh Nagar Nigam (ANN) mayor Prashant Singhal has announced that a resolution proposing the renaming of Aligarh to Harigarh had been passed during a meeting of the civic body. The resolution is now set to be forwarded to the government for consideration.
Singhal said on Tuesday: “During a meeting on Sunday, our councilor Sanjay Pandit proposed the name change from Aligarh to Harigarh. The proposal garnered unanimous support from all councilors, and it will now be submitted to the government for their consideration. We are hopeful that the government will respond positively to our request. The renaming of Aligarh to Harigarh has been a longstanding demand.”
