NEW DELHI: Congress on Monday said its intervention in
Robert Vadra’s case was justified because it pertained to allegations about Haryana where the party was in power until last month.
In the wake of Vadra’s tiff with the media, Congress faced questions on why it should be defending a person whom it described as a private individual.
AICC spokesman Ajoy Kumar said his party speaking in the matter was natural because the allegations against Vadra were linked to the Bhupinder Singh Hooda regime in Haryana.
He said the party headed the previous government in the state and it was natural that it intervene.
Robert Vadra. The remark sought to deny that Congress’s defence of Vadra was dictated by his being the son-in-law of party chief Sonia Gandhi.
Congress had defended Vadra by stating that the media should not hound a person who is neither in public life nor holds a public office.
