Shah, 38, whose father is from Godhra, was in charge of special effects and animation in the Pixar production, which is about a Parisian rat who wants to be a chef.

He was also involved in defining the look of the film with director Brad Bird, production designer Harley Jessup and director of photography Robert Anderson.
"It's great to win an Oscar. This is my third film to get an Oscar after Shrek and Finding Nemo. So far it's been a good streak at the Oscars for me," Shah told TOI.
Shah, who studied in Mumbai, thanked his wife Purvi for supporting him. Shah's wife is from Ahmedabad and his mother's family lives in Nadiad. It was not easy though to make people laugh from the beginning to the end.
"The real challenge was creating computer-generated food animation that would appear delicious," said Shah, who attended several cooking classes and consulted gourmet chefs in US and France.
