NEW DELHI: The prime accused in Jalandhar grenade blast incident that targeted Bharatiya Janata Party leader Manoranjan Kalia's residence was arrested on Saturday, Punjab Police informed.
Saidul Ameen, who is a resident of Amroha, UP, was arrested from Delhi, the official said.
"In a major breakthrough in #Jalandhar Grenade Attack Case, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, with support from Central Agencies & @DelhiPolice, have successfully arrested Saidul Ameen (resident of #Amroha, #UttarPradesh) from #Delhi," DGP Punjab Police said in a post on X.
"Saidul Ameen is the prime accused responsible for the grenade attack targeting the residence of BJP leader Sh. Manoranjan Kalia on the intervening night of April 7–8, 2025," he added.
"Within just 12 hours of the incident, two local associates who facilitated logistical support to the prime accused were swiftly apprehended. Further investigations are vigorously progressing to uncover handlers, financial backers, and potential foreign connections linked to the attack," he said.

Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the incident, saying that it was part of a plot orchestrated by Pakistan’s intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), in collaboration with members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to incite communal unrest in Punjab.
The grenade attack, which damaged Kalia's property without causing any injuries, has escalated political tensions in Punjab, prompting the opposition to call for a fair and comprehensive investigation.
