Kolkata Doctor Rape and Murder Case Live Updates: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced the removal of the Kolkata Police Commissioner and two health department officials after talks with protesting junior doctors regarding the RG Kar Medical College case. The state government agreed to most of the doctors' demands, emphasized their safety, and set up a new committee to address future grievances, while urging the doctors to call off their strike. The doctors have been asked to attend a meeting at the chief minister's residence in Kalighat at 5pm. In an email addressed to the junior doctors, chief secretary Manoj Panth stated, "This is the fifth and final time we are reaching out to you for a meeting between the Honourable Chief Minister and your delegates. In line with our discussion from the day before, we are once again inviting you to a meeting with the Honourable chief minister at her Kalighat residence for a discussion with an open mind."However, the state government has clarified that the meeting will not be live streamed. "We trust that good sense will prevail, and as mutually agreed and as per your statement to the media day before- there will be no live streaming or videography of the meeting, given that the matter is sub judice in the highest court of the country. Instead, the minutes of the meeting will be recorded and signed by both parties," the email read. The junior doctors have been protesting, demanding better security measures at state-run hospitals and the removal of senior officials following the rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee had previously visited the protesting junior doctors in a bid to end the deadlock at Swasthya Bhawan in Salt Lake, Kolkata, and assured them of taking necessary action against those found guilty.
