In an attempt to promote textiles of Rajasthan and give a boost to the community of craftsmen in the state, a special fashion show was organized in the city. Three designers were commissioned by the Rajasthan Khadi and Village Industries board to present collections in khadi and Kota doria.
The evening began with chief guest, CM Vasundhara Raje, being presented with a khadi mala.
The first show was by Rohit and Abhishek, followed by the design collective of Jaipur Modern and then a collection by Bibi Russell of Bangladesh. Khadi took centre stage in all three shows, with each designer interpreting the fabric in their own way. Elements from Rajasthan were also incorporated in all three shows in the form of music, accessories or styling. Another highlight of the soiree was that when the designers came on the ramp to take a bow, they got their cheering and smiling weavers with them.
