Recently, we came across a video on Instagram which mentions Shagun Sweets of Maujpur, Delhi, where they are selling Gold Plated Mithai at a whopping Rs 16000 per kg.
The viral video which has garnered 11 million views, 5 lakh likes, and thousands of comments is posted by food blogger Arjun Chauhan who runs the page oye.foodieee.
As per the video, they are selling Gold Mithia, which uses edible gold leaves on some mawa mitha. In the video, the shopkeeper takes out two gold leaves and adds them on top of the mawa mithi. He then cuts it into small pieces and serves them individually!
According to the video, this mithai costs INR 16,000 per kg.
While some users called it a treat worth a try, many others felt that it is highly-priced and is unaffordable. One of the users commented, “I am giving this to my every friend after selling their kidneys.” And another user commented, "I can make better use of this money and feed the underprivileged."
