Identify and acknowledge your negative thoughts - Know your enemy
Observe your thoughts and let them pass - do not hold on to them
Write down your thoughts on a piece of paper - the good, bad, and the ugly
Demarcate what is extremely important, important or useless
Practice mindfulness - let your mind rest for a few minutes each day
Engage in positive self talk - flip the narrative, even if it is difficult
Deep breathing - Inhale, hold, and exhale your breath - all for four seconds each
Look for alternate perspectives -Do not get stuck on one negative thought only
Do not react to each negative thought that comes your way. Choose your battles
Divert your attention to something more productive - like going on a run, or walking
