"I just hope people like and accept my music", says singer Balaka Sen
Daughter of the land of red soil, Bankura, singer Balaka Sen, has grown up in a family of musicians and has been hearing music from her childhood. Her father Tarun Kanti Chattaraj and uncle Basudev Chattaraj were the first
gurus in her musical journey. She was also a student of renowned teachers like Sri Utpal Chak-raborty, Ashit Chakraborty, Barun Chakraborty, Amar Pal and Utpalendu Choudhary.

“I have always sung with all my heart, and I just hope that my music makes it to people’s hearts. I naturally picked up lok sangeet and then trained in classical music under distinguished musicians,”Balaka told us.

Balaka has received appreciations and certificates for her music from many government organisations such as Krira
and Jubokalyan Bibhaag, Nikhil Banga Shikhak Samiti, Kazi Nazrul Islam Birth Centenary and Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre. Speaking about her recent releases, Hoy ra ne baul, Tomar preme pore coffin laglo gaaye, O Sathee dekhe ja koto sukhe acchi and her upcoming releases, Malagantha shesh na hote tumi ele ghore, she added, “I just hope that people like and accept my music with the same warmth that I sing it. I want to convey my feelings through
my music.”
