Statues and sculptures have forever been the way humans have commemorated people or figures they respected. From the ethos of ‘Liberty’ to the statues of Buddha, there are grand statues erected all over the world. And here we mention some of the tallest ones.

The tallest statue in the world, ‘Statue of Unity’ is dedicated to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and stands at a height of 182 meters. It is in Gujarat and was inaugurated by the Indian PM Narendra Modi.

Another famous and tall statue comes from China, which is the Spring temple Buddha. It is about 128 meters in height, and is a visual and tourist attraction.

Another tall and famous Buddha statue, the Laykyun Setkyar is in Myanmar, and is the third largest statue in the world. This too is a statue of Lord Buddha, is 116 meters in height, and has a gold coating all over.

Measuring slightly below the 116 mark is the Statue of Belief in Nathdwara, a statue of Lord Shiva. It is also known as the Vishwas Swaroopam and depicts Lord Shiva in a calm, composed state.

A stone-like statue of Lord Buddha in Japan is the 4th largest in the world. The Ushiku Daibutsu is about 110 meters in height, 120 when the base is included, and stands as a religious structure too.

A 100 meter tall statue, the Sendai Daikannon is in Japan, and is one of the tallest statues in the world. It is also one of the tallest statues of a Goddess around the world.

Treading slightly below the 100 mark is a ‘Peter the Great’ statue in Russia. It is 98 meter tall and depicts Peter riding his horse, with the horse’s legs in the air.
