Purnima Dates 2023: Purnima is considered to be an auspicious day. It has a great significance in Hindu religion. As per Hindu traditions, people observe fast on full moon day or Purnima day which is famous as Satyanarayan fast. Devotees organise satyanarayan puja through a priest or brahmin on purnima day.

Fasting on full moon day has several positive effects on the body, mind and soul. It keeps a person mentally healthy. People offer prayers to full moon and Lord Vishnu on this sacred day. People get so many benefits by observing fast on this particular day and these benefits are - balancing the body metabolism, controlling the acid content, enhancing the endurance power, and cleansing the digestive system.

According to the astrology, the one who is facing anxiety and depression, are advised to observe fast on full moon day and offer water to the moon.

Puja done on Purnima day is said to confer great merits to the observers. Many spiritual gurus took birth on Purnima days like Lord Subrahmanya, Dattatreya, Buddha, Guru Nanak, and others.

On Purnima, devotees mostly worship Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Purnima fasting starts at sunrise and ends with the sighting of the moon.

It is believed that a full moon is the third of the four primary phases of the Moon. A full moon occurs when the sun and the moon are separated by 180°. The full moon shows 100% lightning and can fall in with lunar eclipses. The energy is a little higher on this sacred day.
